Two years after being selected last in the 2022 NFL Draft, the 24-year-old attended an event at Levi’s Stadium where a group of young fans had prepared some questions for the now 49ers starter.

One such question that was blasted over the stadium’s PA system was, “is the NFL scripted?”
The question prompted laughter from around the stadium, but having been placed on the spot, Purdy wasn’t afraid to address this widespread rumor head-on.
Purdy grabbed the microphone with a smirk as he bluntly responded, “No the NFL is not scripted.”
He quickly added, “Good question,” pointing to the youngster with a smile.
The interaction prompted an array of responses on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Little man is asking all the right questions,” said one fan.
“That’s exactly what someone who knew it was scripted would say,” joked a second.
“Of course it isn’t scripted. It isn’t the WWE,” commented a third.
“But you better believe it is influenced as the NFL is running a trillion-dollar entertainment business.”
While a fourth added, “Well rigged is different than scripted and Purdy wouldn’t know if it’s rigged since that’s beyond his pay grade.”
The event also saw Purdy field further questions, including where he would rank himself amongst the league’s top 10 quarterbacks.
However, while he complimented the question, Purdy remained coy when answering.
Instead of naming a list, Purdy simply said, “I’m going to go in a different direction. We’ve got a lot of good quarterbacks in the NFL.”
Purdy may not have been willing to publically name himself one of the game’s best, but his stats arguably do the talking for him.

Last season, Purdy had the NFL’s highest quarterback rating (113.0), fifth-most passing yards (4,280), third-most passing touchdowns (31), and fourth-highest completion percentage (69.4).
He led San Francisco to a 12-5 record and a second consecutive NFC West Division title.
After beating the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions in the Playoffs, their season would end in heartbreak at Super Bowl LVIII.
Purdy and Co. lost 25-22 in overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs in Las Vegas, marking their second loss to Andy Reid’s team in the Super Bowl in five years.
Now with the 2024 season rapidly approaching, Purdy is set to enter the third of his four-year $3.7 million rookie deal.
He is slated to make around $1 million this season.
