Blackpink’s Rosé gave a rare glimpse into her encounter with Taylor Swift. The singer spoke to i-D magazine about the mentorship Swift offered when Rosé saw her last September at Electric Lady Studios in New York City.
Rosé had been working on solo music. “I told her I’m such a huge fan, and I just had some questions,” the K-pop artist said of running into Swift. “As soon as she met me, she’s like ‘Spill, let me help you out.’ She gave me her experiences and was so ready to help me. She gave me her number and she’s like, ‘Let me know if you have any questions.’ Who does that? Like, you’re Taylor Swift!”
“I’m really grateful for her because I was at a moment where I was drowning a little,” Rosé added. “She is literally the coolest, and she’s such a girl’s girl. She was telling me—make sure to take care of this, this, and this—like, logistics. She was trying to protect me. Me becoming solo, being independent, it’s not an easy thing. There are a lot of things I should be careful with, and she gave me a rundown on all the things I have to look out for. That was the coolest part—she’s killed it in the game, and she was kind enough to walk me through.”
Rosé said she is truly just figuring out life and what she is doing: “At the end of the day, I’m just a 27-year-old girlie who’s living through the last chapters of her 20s, and it’s still not easy,” the singer shared. “I guess we have three more years to find out if life gets better, or if it’s gonna be like this forever. I feel like we’re still young and dumb!”
